Strategic Asset Allocation Strategies
Strategic allocation involves investing across a wide array of asset classes and categories to help achieve diversification goals. The benefit of diversification is that by casting a wider net over your investments you reduce the risk of being too concentrated in the wrong asset class at the wrong time.
Strategic allocation helps to create the core holdings of a portfolio. We allocate within up to 20 asset categories to reach this goal, using low-cost investments - typically index funds and ETFs - and re-balancing when appropriate. Strategically allocated portfolios are best suited for long-term investing.
Tactical Allocation
Investment markets are dynamic. Tactical allocation seeks to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves as economic cycles change and sectors rotate in and out of favor.
Tactical allocation is more short-term in nature than strategic allocation but can represent a chance to enhance the growth of the portfolio. These opportunities often exist within specific industries, sectors, or special income generating opportunities. Depending on the size of account, we will often incorporate tactical investing in our efforts to help build your wealth.
Option Strategies
Options are an overlooked tool that can be used to manage risk and generate income. While many investors see options as too sophisticated for their purposes, more simple strategies can incorporate the use of covered call or protective put options.
